welcome again

12.30pm 14th feb 2011

hello world! i’m back…or so i hope that i don’t decide to disappear again. i do have this bad habit. sometimes due to boredom…most times because i let life and other mundane things take over.

i took this picture on valentines day. perfectly placed. notice the little heart formed by the gardner’s hose…quite cliche…but hey, love is in the air. or atleast it should be. and not just on this one particular day, where we are forced to proclaim it out loud, remind each other that we are special. so unnecessary…or so i’d like to believe.

even if ‘we’ like to believe that it doesn’t bother us and it’s only a hallmark day blah blah blah. it pinches when your partner does nothing. we forget that we both have always claimed that we don’t care to make a big deal about events. it’s all so complicated.  but it pinches, especially when your asked continously about what you were given, where you were taken. you realise that what people say or that sad look they give you when you say you don’t care to do anything ‘special’, actually bother’s you. people’s reactiond make a difference! how shattering for someone who has always claimed that it doesn’t. it’s all so very complicated. well, atleast in my little head.

anyway…jabbering again. trying to get back into the habit. but got to go quick this time. husband is giving me a reminder lesson on the technicalities of blogging. i’m quite a doofus where remembering technical things are considered, especially after so much time. almost 7-8months.

see you tomorrow…or so, as i mentioned earlier…i hope.

superfit cops

08.06am to 08.11am

15th oct 2008

our 1st home together was a little terrace flat.

i loved the mornings there. well, basically, i am a morning person, much to husbands irritation. so there or anywhere else, i’m up and about rather early, much to my own irritation,  and extremely chatty. irritation, only if it’s been one of those ridiculously late nights, which for me is post midnight. so, i guess i’m irritated and irritable due to lack of sleep, quite a few days in the week. but this would make another picture…so we’ll leave it for another day.

woke up one morning, glared at husband as he snored soundly, opened the doors, let the sun in, took my tea on to the terrace to check out the sights, fed apples to the visiting parrots, let jax run around like a kookoo top…routine.

one of our views was the local cop station. it was next to one of the largest car dumpyards i have seen. i called it the car graveyard. in anycase, another picture, other ramblings. i remember reading in the papers how our cops are extremely unfit and rolly polly. the top brass, i guess took action, which led to me taking these pictures. that morning they sweated for a good, extremely hilarious half hour.

peek-a-boo

03.21pm 9th dec 2009

for a moment when i was sorting through my many hundreds of moments, i thought that the hung out to dry teddy bear and the back seat peeker were the same bear.

i was like wow!!! how did i manage that??? what a coincidence! i was flabbergasted and filled with joy at my discovery. i’m a genius…even though i had nothing to do with how this happened!

after catching my breath…oh ho…

not so joyful anymore.

tension free

04.56pm 8th oct 2010

‘what is this?’

that is the question.

the man incharge!

his job today was to make sure that the ‘other men’ carried all the many heavy bits and pieces from our old home, up 5floors into our new home…safe and sound.

his watchful eyes finally gave in to all that strain.

sweet dreams and many snores occupied his uncluttered mind.

gautam the writer

03.28am to 03.29am 6th oct 2010

the result of last night’s revelries.

as many of us have learnt through personal experience, never pass out in a room full of awake people post much intoxication.

i am much suffering today. hoping all participants are keeping me company in my heavy headed puffy eyed misery.

October 3, 2010

06.37pm 28th may 2009

sunset at vagator, goa, struggling to remember the name of the shack we were drinking our beers in. it’s a little place, just at the cliff, so an obviously brilliant sunset.

we weren’t the only ones who thought so. the photographer was taking a picture of his son with the sunset as a backdrop. he was really concentrating. took quite a few shots to make sure he got it right. he made the boy move left, then look a little to the right. no no…sit at the edge. chin slightly down, hands on lap. that’s it. smile…now one standing…he showed it to his wife, she didn’t approve…then profile, followed with many opinions from his many clan members…sit again…this went on for a good many shots. the son grinned ear to ear through it all!

if i remember right, it was a samsung phone. i could be wrong.

this whole photo session could have made a great advertisment. or so i think. we were pretty much entertained, while gobbling down pakoras and beer. for me, pakoras is a strange munchy to have in goa. but it had been a bit of a rainy day. pakoras in the rain is always perfect and filled with childhood memories.

normally beef chilly fry, surmai tava fry, fried mussels, calamari in butter garlic sauce or fried calamari…brilliant with beer or so my taste buds passionately tell me! hits the spot perfectly.

the beer i’m enjoying these days for some strange reason is tuborg. most people, when in goa, drink kings beer, including husband. i don’t know why, i just haven’t been able to drink it with any relish. but hey, when in goa…kings it is meant to be…or a gin and tonic, full soft spot for it. better still fenny or urrak!

excess baggage

04.00pm to 04.05pm 30th sept 2010

this is the stuff that goes into our home.

and it’s minus 2 giant suitcases, 2 big, 3 medium, 4 duffel bags, 3 average sized cartons and 4 beachbags filled with random paraphernalia. all of which is lying at my very open hearted parents home, who are basically thrilled with the entertainment we are providing. schumi the turtle is missing from the documentation as well.

a little info on schumi…husband got her 4 or 5 years ago. she was a ‘gift’. he assumed that she was a he. i still don’t understand why. one can’t make out their sex till they are a about 2yrs. that’s fact. but why assume, male? so, till about a year a go, schumi was a boy. can you imagine husband’s disappointment, when he blossomed into a girl.

jax the cat, as you can see, had a field day.

sorry for the deviation. back to the grumblings!

how did we manage to collect so much so much stuff??

the plastic wrapped stuff does also include furniture, out of which the bed, dinning table and 4 chairs are already in the new nest.

so many things! why do we do this? what happened to minimal living? why don’t we have the ability to get rid of things, why do we collect so much, why are we so attached to things that hold strong memories? what happened to our brilliant idea of having a garage sale…when did we shoot it down??? and why didnt we ‘spring’ clean before calling agarwal packers.

i’m going to weep profusely when unpacking. i predict it and it’s all husbands doing!

have to blame someone other than myself. i’m sure you understand?

hung out to dry

09.07am 18th march 2009

till last year aug, we lived in this little terrace flat. the one brilliant advantage, other than open space, tea and fruits under blue skys, coffee while gazing at the sun go down, pre-and-or-post-dinner drinks with flickering candle light, was the amount of drying space the terrace provided.

i washed clothes happily. sun-dryed clothes somehow make me feel really good inside. we won’t discuss what happened during the monsoons.

this was one of our views. our neighbours also used their terrace to it’s full advantage.
